And it will be an adventure in Acadia!
Date/Time: August 18, 2012, 4 or 5pm, depending on potential thunderstorms. You can arrive anytime after noon to enjoy yourself, and we’ll try to have snacks, but we’re not serving “lunch.”
The “reception,” by which we mean fun, outdoor activities, a picnic “drunch” and dancing, will be that evening immediately following the ceremony!
We encourage you to stay for more than just the wedding day, as this is a lovely area to explore, but book your accommodations soon! Things fill up very quickly, especially in August, as this is a vacation destination-ismo.
Please RSVP as soon as possible and no later than May 1st to:
sevansbr@gmail.com or 43E Warren St., Concord, NH 03301
Ceremony and “Reception” Location: 740 Oak Point Rd., Trenton, ME
Please bring your own umbrella in case of rain, your instrument if you play one, and a lawn chair if you’d prefer that to a picnic blanket, and a picnic blanket if you know what we mean by a good “Bates Quad-sitting Quilt”
. Dress is casual, and you may want to bring your bathing suit, as well!!
Please see the page tabs above to see more about Carpooling and Directions, Activities in Acadia, Accommodations and (Instead of) Gifts.
Regarding gifts, let me channel my inner Dr. Seuss and his friend the Lorax:
“NO MORE THNEEDS!”
You see, our fine friends, we want no more thneeds!
Thneeds are just things we all “think we need.”
We’ve already got salt shakers and mitts for things hot,
Our cupboard will explode if we add one more pot,
We have dehydraters, and icecream makers, and backpacking cookstoves,
Towels, bike trailers, and pans for bread loaves,
We’ve got rackets, bikes and skis up the wazoo,
Grain grinders and car jacks– yup, we’ve got those, too!
With our busting closets of clothes we can dress up like fools,
Thanks to Grammy Engstrom we have gardening tools,
There’s a toaster oven mountain in the basement of our folks,
As well as a potting wheel and pressure canner– these are not jokes!
We are serious when we say NO MORE THNEEDS FOR US!”
We don’t want the stuff, and we don’t want the fuss!
So we’re suggesting, “instead of gifts”, deeds the Lorax might like:
Plant a garden, meet your neighbor, instead of driving ride your bike,
Compost your food, waste less, or just shop at a local store–
These are thneed-less gifts we’d appreciate much more!!
Unless someone like you (who we know cares a whole awful lot),
Chooses “deed” over “thneed,” it’s not going to get better. It’s not.
